Blue Label Digital Printing specializes in creating custom labels for a wide range of consumer applications, and they offer an even wider range of materials and finishes. We were asked to create a tool to help potential and existing clients get excited about labels’ possibilities, as well as provide content to guide clients in the production process.

The Project Guidebook is a swatchbook that’s divided into two sections: The front section breaks down the process, terminology, properties and techniques. The second section is comprised of examples with production notes outlining the materials, finishing techniques and properties.

With the theme of The Great Outdoors, each label was designed to bring out the most of the material and finishing technique. We had the challenge of working with speciality inks, metallic or holographic materials, hot foils, embosses, and a range of textures to showcase a label’s potential. It’s difficult to plan how materials and finishes will work without actually holding it. This tool shows the experience of how a quality label can stand out on shelves.
